SafeTravePH facilitated the conduct of a workshop event at the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Innovation Hub last November 23, 2023 for the innovation project called Poverty Impact and Vulnerability Estimation (PIVE) system. The event was organized by LocationMind, a geospatial technology startup based in Tokyo, Japan, the main implementer of the project, and the ADB.
Workshop participants from national agencies and research institutions were able to test the tools being developed for poverty, vulnerability, and mobility data collection and analytics. PIVE is aimed at equipping decision-makers with the capability to rapidly and efficiently access information in response to the dynamic shifts occurring in society and the environment. It is a system that integrates poverty and disaster vulnerability data with mobility data. SafeTravelPH provides crowdsourced data on the ground to validate mobile GPS and satellite data analysis of people and vehicle movements with residents, NGO, and LGU based collection of transport, disaster preparedness/response, and socio-economic indicators.
Know more about PIVE thru the official project site: https://pive.locationmind.net/features or at safetravelph.org/pive.
SafeTravePH, thru its mobile app and web page, builds community level surveying tools for residents, government agencies/LGUs, and NGOs for five (5) use cases (UC) of the PIVE system. While the government's Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) and Census are great sources statistical data for planning and impact evaluation, a rapid surveying tool such as the PIVE Field Survey allows local governments, NGOs working with the community, and local and international funders to collect, analyze, and maintain essential information for faster and targeted interventions and projects.
Follow up meetings were also done with government agencies to better understand their data and information system needs and challenges.
