SafeTravelPH Expands Road Safety Capabilities as a CycleRAP Partner

SafeTravelPH Mobility Innovations Organization Inc. is pleased to announce its new role as a supplier of CycleRAP, a model and toolkit developed by the International Road Assessment Programme (iRAP) to support safer infrastructure for cyclists and other light mobility users.

This development strengthens SafeTravelPH’s capacity to support evidence-based road safety assessment and planning in the Philippines, particularly as cities and communities work toward safer and more inclusive environments for cycling and light mobility.

What is CycleRAP?

CycleRAP is an iRAP model designed to support the assessment of safety risk for cyclists and other light mobility users. It provides a structured approach to examining infrastructure-related risk and generating evidence to inform road safety improvements.

As a CycleRAP supplier, SafeTravelPH can use the CycleRAP model and related materials in technicaal services and research and development activities..

For SafeTravelPH, this capability complements our broader work in transport planning, mobility research, active transport, road safety, and data-driven decision-making.

Supporting Safer Cycling Through Evidence

Creating safer cycling environments requires more than simply providing space for bicycles. Infrastructure must consider the different risks that cyclists encounter as they travel along roads, pass intersections, interact with motor vehicles, and navigate different types of cycling facilities.

By applying CycleRAP, planners/researchers can support organizations and local governments in systematically examining these risks and identifying opportunities for infrastructure improvements.

The resulting evidence can contribute to discussions on the planning, design, prioritization, and monitoring of safer cycling infrastructure and help decision-makers better understand where interventions may be most needed.

Strengthening SafeTravelPH’s Road Safety Advocacy

Our work combines transport research, field data collection, spatial analysis, public transport and active mobility planning, and engagement with government and community stakeholders. Adding CycleRAP to our road safety capabilities provides another structured tool to support evidence-based planning for people who cycle and use other forms of light mobility.

SafeTravelPH looks forward to applying this capability through appropriate projects, research, and technical engagements and to supporting cities and organizations seeking to better understand and address cycling-related infrastructure risk.
